Comic shops are about to get a massive injection of pure nostalgia and modern blockbusters all at once. For the first time in over twenty years, the two biggest powerhouse publishers are officially sharing the page again. DC Comics just announced a massive 224-page collected edition titled DC/Marvel: The Cosmic Kiss Caper & Other Stories, scheduled to hit shelves on September 8, 2026. This hardcover and paperback release gathers the recent, historic crossover singles that fans spent decades begging for, all wrapped up in a brand-new cover by superstar artist Jim Cheung.
The book leans heavily on star-studded creative teams to deliver on decades of pent-up hype. The marquee attractions feature some of the absolute biggest names in modern comics history. Grant Morrison and Dan Mora team up for a mind-bending Batman/Deadpool collision that promises to test the Dark Knight’s legendary patience. On the brighter side of the spectrum, Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez unite the ultimate icons in Superman/Spider-Man. That story throws Clark Kent and Peter Parker into the same investigative reporting beat, forcing them to unravel a massive multiversal conspiracy cooked up by Brainiac and Doctor Octopus.
Beyond the Main Event: Wild Pairs and Digital Debuts
The collection fleshes out its hefty page count by pairing unexpected icons together for shorter adventures. Some of these match-ups sound like pure fan-fiction dreams come to life, written and drawn by elite creators like Tom King, Jim Lee, Gail Simone, Tom Taylor, and Sean Murphy. Readers can expect to see Lois Lane sharing notes with Mary Jane Watson, Nightwing trading blows alongside Wolverine, and Power Girl crossing paths with The Punisher. The book also contains some delightfully chaotic pairings, including Jimmy Olsen running for his life from Carnage, and Superboy meeting Spider-Man 2099.
Digital Firsts Moving to Print
An exciting element for physical comic collectors is the inclusion of recent digital-first material. The book marks the very first print edition for DC and Marvel’s recent vertical-scroll digital comics. Fans who prefer paper over phone screens can finally read Jeremy Adams and Adrian Gutierrez’s Flash/Fantastic Four story, alongside the highly anticipated Supergirl/Blade crossover by CRC Payne and Mikel Janín.
This collection packs in DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool #1, DC/Marvel: Superman/Spider-Man #1, and the very first print editions of DC/Marvel: The Flash/Fantastic Four and DC/Marvel: Supergirl/Blade.
