The DC Universe is shifting its roster again, and one of the most beloved heroes of the Milestone era is moving right into the center of the action. Virgil Hawkins is officially joining the ranks of the Titans this summer. DC Comics announced that the electricity-wielding hero will take on a massive role in the ongoing series starting with New Titans #38.
This isn’t just a brief cameo or a quick guest appearance, either. Editorial plans show that Virgil will be a driving force for the team through the rest of the year. The move signals a major push for the character within the core DC Universe continuity following some massive status quo changes earlier this spring.
The Road to Mount Titans
Virgil’s arrival in the main team book didn’t happen overnight. DC has been laying the groundwork for this crossover for months. Fans who caught DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special and the recent New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident one-shot have already seen the narrative pieces moving into place. The Dakota Incident was a massive hit for the publisher, even securing a second printing that hit comic shop shelves back on April 22.

If you missed those prelude books, DC is offering an easy jumping-on point. July’s New Titans #37 will include a special four-page prelude story. This short backup feature explicitly bridges the gap between the events of the Milestone-centric crossover events and Virgil’s arrival at the Titans’ headquarters.

A Crisis in the Amazon
When New Titans #38 drops in August, Virgil’s path collides directly with Jon Kent, the current Superman, at Mount Titans. The timing couldn’t be more urgent. The plot kicks off when a messenger from Wonder Girl’s tribe arrives looking for Yara Flor. A mysterious, powerful threat is rising in the Brazilian rainforest, and the team is already dealing with serious internal friction.
Writer Tate Brombal is steering this high-stakes arc, while artist Sami Basri handles the interior pages. The creative team is framing Virgil’s electrical powers and outside perspective as the exact spark the fractured team needs to survive their first major mission together.
