DC Comics just dropped some massive news, and fans are in for a treat! Get ready for DC K.O., the “slugfest event of the century” that promises to be the most fun you’ll have all year (even if it’s a death tournament!). This fall, our favorite heroes are stepping into the ring for a cosmic throwdown, and only one can be crowned King Omega.
Co-created by the powerhouse duo of Joshua Williamson (known for his work on Superman) and Scott Snyder (from Absolute Batman fame), DC K.O. is the next big chapter in the DC All-In saga. Snyder is taking the reins on the main DC K.O. event series, with stunning art by Javi Fernández, while Williamson will be orchestrating all the exciting tie-ins that will ripple across the entire DC Universe.
“DC K.O. is a knock-down, drag-out fight between all your favorite DC Super Heroes in a cosmic tournament to save the universe from Darkseid,” explains Snyder. Williamson adds, “Darkseid has evolved into something bigger and stronger than ever… There’s no future for the DC Universe because of what he’s done—the heroes’ only shot is to stop him in the present.” Talk about high stakes!
Imagine this: a universe-shaking, five-level gladiatorial arena emerges from the Earth itself, with each level presenting new and brutal challenges to our heroes. The goal? To generate enough Omega Energy to rival Darkseid and crown a new King Omega, a celestial being that could bend the universe to their will.
Thirty-six fighters are set to enter this tournament. Who will rise through the brackets? Who will surprise us all and go “really far in the fights,” as Williamson teases? And what sinister secret is lurking at the heart of Apokolips? You’ll have to read to find out!
Snyder warns, “You have to be merciless to win. And when you’re out, you’re out.” This isn’t just a friendly sparring match; it’s a fight for survival.
While the battles will be epic, both creators emphasize the emotional heart of this event. “Metal was a Batman story, Death Metal was a Wonder Woman story—and DC K.O. is a Superman story,” says Williamson. Snyder echoes this, saying he wanted to tell a story about Superman looking into his “own heart of darkness.” Expect a deeply personal journey wrapped in a “nine layers of candy exploding in your face” spectacle!
The creators are lauding Javi Fernández’s art as “incredible” and “epic,” promising to bring all the thrills, tension, and character transformations to life.
The main DC K.O. #1 five-issue limited series kicks off on October 8, 2025, retailing for $5.99 US. It features a dramatic main cover by Javi Fernández with an acetate overlay – the full art will be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con!
But that’s not all! The action begins even earlier with the oversized prologue, Justice League: The Omega Act #1, which hits shelves on October 1, 2025, for $5.99 US. Written by Joshua Williamson, this issue sees a desperate Time Trapper racing through time to offer the Justice League a last chance to save the future from Darkseid’s devastation. Everything since DC All-In Special #1 has been building to this moment!
The melee also spills into exciting tie-in issues throughout October:
Titans #28 (October 15) sees the Titans racing to evacuate Earth as Apokolips threatens to transform the planet.
Superman #31 (October 22) dives deep into the mystery of the “Heart of Apokolips” and its ties to Krypton.
The Flash #26 (October 22) follows Wally and Impulse as they grapple with a catastrophic “Impulsepoint” reality reset.
Justice League Unlimited #12 (October 22) sends Michael Holt and the Terrific Ten on a perilous mission to Earth’s core.
Heroes will clash, secrets will unravel, and the true cost of victory will be revealed. Are you ready to see who will be crowned King Omega?
