Marvel’s Captain America is getting a major update, with writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Valerio Schiti launching a bold new era for the hero that brings him to the present day.
Last month, Zdarsky and Schiti kicked off their new run with a five-part series that takes place shortly after Captain America emerged from his frozen slumber, chronicling his first confrontation with Doctor Doom. Now, they’re jumping into the modern era with Captain America #6, which will deal with the fallout of Doctor Doom’s fall in the wake of the event, One World Under Doom.
Starting in Captain America #6, the new storyline will take place in Latveria, which is on the brink of civil war. Captain America heads there to protect civilians, but his mission gets complicated when the United Nations Security Council sends in their own super-soldiers to join him. This new international team, dubbed the “United Captains,” is made up of:
- Captain Kingdom (United Kingdom)
- Captain France (France)
- Red Widow (Russia)
- The Star (China)
As the United Captains and Captain America try to stop Latveria from falling into chaos, they will face warring factions, conflicting agendas, and hidden motives. This new storyline is set to position Captain America as a central figure in the current Marvel Universe and will be essential reading for upcoming major events next year.
