Marvel Comics is putting Lucas Bishop back in the spotlight this summer. The iconic time-traveler leads a brand-new five-issue limited series titled BISHOP, scheduled to launch on June 10.

Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Mario Santoro are the creative force behind this high-stakes mutant adventure. This solo outing finds the time-traveling X-Man facing a threat from his own grim future.

A new group of antagonists called the Final Brotherhood has emerged. These “hybrid” mutant villains traveled from the future to the present day with one goal: kill Bishop. This forces the energy-absorbing X-Man into a corner. He’s forced to navigate a timeline that’s increasingly unstable.

The series aims to deliver a standalone saga similar to the recently launched Rogue (2025) and Cyclops (2026) titles. It highlights the legacy of individual members of mutantkind while putting them through their most challenging missions.

Fans of the 1990s X-Factor run will recognize a familiar face in this series. Shard, Bishop’s sister, joins the fight. Her presence adds a massive emotional weight to the story. She arrives in the present moments before her historical death. Bishop has always lived by a strict code. That code is tested when he must choose between protecting the timestream and saving the most important person in his life.

Saladin Ahmed is bringing his experience from Wolverine to this project. He’s focusing on the mental toll of Bishop’s history.

“I’m having a blast doing a deep dive into the dark corners of Lucas Bishop’s time-travel traumatized mind!” Ahmed said. “I’m a writer who loves both family drama and spectacle, so getting to juxtapose the big visual comic book elements of temporal warping and explosive powers with the quiet pain and joy of sibling relationships is my happy place.”

Mario Santoro is transitioning from his work on Storm (2024) to handle the visuals for this limited series.

“When I drew issues of Storm (2024), I also had the pleasure of drawing Bishop, and I really enjoyed doing it. I never imagined that I would get a chance to draw an incredible solo adventure for the character,” Santoro shared. “I have always loved the X-Men, and I’m thrilled every time I get to work with one of them. I’m also excited to work with a fantastic team led by [Editor] Darren Shan and alongside Saladin Ahmed, who wrote an incredible story for Lucas.”

Ahmed is particularly excited about the visual direction Santoro is taking with the new antagonists. “Mario Santoro’s pages for this are a thrill, including some INSANE designs for our new ‘hybrid’ mutant villains, the Final Brotherhood!” Ahmed added.

BISHOP #1 hits local comic shops on June 10. The debut issue features a main cover by Davide Paratore. Collectors can also look for variant covers by Fabrizio De Tommaso and Skottie Young. This series looks to be a pivotal chapter for fans of the time-lost X-Man and his complicated family tree.
