The Mutant Resistance Begins: A Look at X-Men: Age of Revelation

KPB Comics | September 3, 2025

September 3, 2025

The Marvel Universe is set for a shake-up this fall in X-Men: Age of Revelation Overture #1, a new one-shot that launches a major X-Men storyline.

Written by Jed MacKay and drawn by Ryan Stegman, the comic jumps a decade into the future to a world where mutantkind is ruled by Doug Ramsey, now known as Revelation. While he’s created what he sees as a perfect world, many mutants view it as a dystopia.

A new resistance is forming to fight back, featuring a team of familiar heroes like Magneto, Cyclops, Beast, and Psylocke. They’ll have to navigate this new timeline and face both new enemies and old allies. The preview shows the heroes planning their resistance, while a new version of Wolverine prepares for a fight.

MacKay shared with AIPT that he enjoyed the creative freedom of exploring this alternate reality. He said it was fun to see how the characters have changed after 10 years of chaos and hinted that the new relationships and dynamics will leave readers to wonder what happened in the intervening years.

Check out the preview below:

The issue hits stores on October 1st and will feature a variety of variant covers.
