Big news for Transformers fans! Superstar creators Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and Dan Mora (Justice League Unlimited) are set to kick off a brand new era for the beloved robots in disguise with Transformers #25, hitting comic shops on October 8th. Published by Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment in partnership with Hasbro, this oversized issue marks a monumental shift for the two-time Eisner Award-winning series.

Joining current series colorist Mike Spicer and letterer Rus Wooton, Kirkman and Mora are celebrating the blockbuster series’ second anniversary with an issue that promises to be “MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.” This also serves as the perfect jumping-on point for new readers looking to dive into the action. Plus, Transformers #25 will feature an additional story from Kirkman and current series artist Jorge Corona.

Kirkman, a long-time fan, expressed his excitement: “Holy smokes, I’m writing a Transformers comic! I’ve been so invested in this series since the beginning… When Daniel’s run came to an end, I could stand on the sidelines no more! I just had to get in the ring!” Mora shares the enthusiasm, saying, “I’ve been a huge Transformers fan ever since I can remember, so it’s been a real thrill to come aboard the series with the equally thrilling Robert Kirkman.”

The Energon Universe, a shared comic book world for Transformers and G.I. Joe, is about to be shaken to its core. Optimus Prime and the remaining Autobots will face their greatest challenge yet, needing to form unlikely alliances to protect Earth. But the biggest threats might be closer than they think. And what fate awaits the Decepticons in this new chapter of their war?

Ben Abernathy, Executive Editor at Skybound, summed it up perfectly: “Robert Kirkman and Dan Mora on TRANSFORMERS?! Talk about a dream come true! I think everyone’s going to have their minds blown once they read what these two geniuses are cooking up!”

As a testament to this massive event, Transformers #25 will feature an incredible array of variant covers. In addition to the main cover by David Nakayama, fans can look forward to stunning art from Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer, Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer, Kael Ngu, Dan Mora & Andres Juarez, Jae Lee & June Chung, and even blank sketch covers for your own artistic endeavors. There will also be specialty finish covers by David Nakayama, John Amor & Andres Juarez, and Leonardo Romero.

Transformers is the foundational title of the Energon Universe, a groundbreaking collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound that has reimagined the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises in a shared continuity. Other ongoing titles in this exciting universe include Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman, Conor Hughes, and Patricio Delpeche, and G.I. Joe by Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana, and Lee Loughridge. Get ready for an unfolding saga packed with secrets and answers to some of the biggest questions in comics today!

Make sure to grab your copy of Transformers #25 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, available at comic book shops and digital platforms!
