After last week’s explosive episode, which featured Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and unveiled the truth about the “Best Dimension Ever”, Peacemaker’s second season is now firing on all cylinders. James Gunn, who penned the entire season, proves once again that he has a few twists left up his super-suit sleeve, keeping fans guessing about what comes next. Directed by Alethea Jones, this episode delivers another cameo from a familiar Superman character, while the reunion of the 11th Street Kids takes a dark turn.
Peacemaker and Harcourt find themselves on the run, while Adebayo barely makes it out alive before Judomaster steps in, taking down her pursuers by electrocuting them in a pool. Moved by her struggle and unwilling to let her fall to an overwhelming mob, he not only saves her but also offers comfort. The two strike up an unexpected friendship, passing the time with a local variation of Scrabble, humorously called “Scrobble,” as they wait for nightfall.
Meanwhile, Peacemaker and Harcourt’s escape from A.R.G.U.S. is short-lived when Keith and August intercept them. In a twist, August reveals himself to be surprisingly empathetic, convinced that Peacemaker never intended harm. Keith, however, is far less forgiving.
Peacemaker opens to his father and brother, revealing that all he ever wanted was to know what it felt like to belong to a family. While his father listens, Keith remains unconvinced. Auggie is willing to help send them home and comes across as far removed from the hateful figure audiences once knew. He even acknowledges that their own version of Peacemaker had spiraled beyond control and accepts the DCU’s Peacemaker at his word when he admits that his son’s death was the result of a tragic accident rather than deliberate intent.
Back in the main universe, Rick Flag Sr. and Sasha Bordeaux seek out Lex Luthor’s ally Sydney Happersen (another cameo from the Superman movie) to aid in locating Peacemaker’s dimensional portal. Sydney reveals that this gateway is built with far greater security than anything Lex Luthor ever constructed, making it a far more difficult challenge to breach. Despite that, Rick seems determined to press forward, and his insistence on keeping Sydney close suggests that her expertise will be vital for what lies ahead.
An alternate version of Larry Fitzgibbon (the cop from season 1) arrives at the door seeking answers, but is firmly turned away by Auggie. Nearby, the two Vigilantes track down Adebayo and Judomaster. At the same time, Auggie confronts Harcourt, explaining that he isn’t a Nazi and can’t single-handedly right every wrong in his world, though he genuinely wants to make it better. His heartfelt and impassioned plea is abruptly ended when Vigilante lunges at him with a knife, delivering a sudden and fatal attack.
Chaos erupts as a shootout with the police breaks out, and an enraged Keith turns on Peacemaker, furious over the devastation his actions have caused. Peacemaker watches in horror as his friends assault his brother and, overwhelmed with guilt, tearfully apologizes. In a moment of painful self-awareness, Peacemaker realizes that the fault isn’t with his world or theirs: it’s him. He comes to the devastating conclusion that wherever he goes, destruction follows, and he can’t escape the damage he leaves in his wake.
The group races back through the dimensional portal, and Harcourt tries to stop Keith from pursuing vengeance, but the encroaching police force prevents her from acting. Meanwhile, Keith receives medical attention in an ambulance in his own world. Peacemaker and his companions return home only to be met by Flag Sr. and A.R.G.U.S., guns raised and ready. In a final act of self-sacrifice, Peacemaker takes the blame and is arrested, allowing his friends to walk free.
Overall, this penultimate episode is a thrilling, chaotic mix of violence, dark humor, and twisted family drama. With Judomaster’s loyalty tested, Auggie’s shocking downfall, the episode raises the stakes, leaving viewers eager to see if Peacemaker’s struggles, Rick Sr.’s hidden agenda, his evolving bond with Harcourt, and the mounting tension with Keith can all be resolved in the finale. Balancing action, character-driven drama, and biting satire, this installment stands out as one of the boldest and most essential chapters in the series, setting the stage for a high-stakes conclusion.
