Marvel just dropped a massive bomb at New York Comic Con (NYCC): a terrifying new crossover event called DEATH SPIRAL is coming this February!

This saga will entangle the lives of Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage in a violent collision course, kicking off with the special one-shot AMAZING SPIDER-MAN/VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL #1 on February 26th. The mayhem will then spread across the pages of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and VENOM through April.

The event is spearheaded by a trio of powerhouse writers currently shaping the worlds of Spidey and the symbiotes: Joe Kelly (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), Al Ewing (VENOM), and Charles Soule (EDDIE BROCK: CARNAGE). They’ll be joined by stellar artists Ed McGuinness, Carlos Gómez, and Jesús Saíz.

The panelists (including the writers and Marvel Editors) teased that all the recent major developments, such as Mary Jane becoming Venom and Eddie Brock bonding with Carnage, are leading directly into this event.

Their shared antagonist is a horrific new supervillain named TORMENT. This twisted serial killer specifically targets Peter Parker and everyone connected to him. As Editor Nick Lowe puts it, this is “one of the wildest times in Spider and Symbiote history,” where not everyone involved will survive!

Writer Charles Soule described the core dynamic: “Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Mary Jane—they’re essentially a weird family unit, interconnected with gigantic amounts of history together.” Joe Kelly then added the chilling kicker: “And then we needed a serial killer.”The three-part story begins with the one-shot, which promises to get any new reader up to speed before asking a crucial question: What terrible secret has Carnage learned, and what does it have to do with Spider-Man?!
