The God of the Symbiotes is returning to the Marvel Universe, and this time, he’s starring in his very own series. Following his last appearance in Venom #250, the legendary supervillain Knull is back to reclaim his place as the King in Black in a new five-issue limited series, Knull #1.

For those new to the character, Knull was created by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman. He quickly became one of the most significant villains of the last decade, leading the massive King in Black crossover event where he and his symbiote army almost conquered Earth. It took the combined might of Marvel’s heroes to defeat him, but as the new series reveals, he’s not down for the count.

This time, Knull is weakened and trapped, but he’s far from powerless. The series, written by Al Ewing (the current Venom writer) and Tom Waltz (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), with art by Juanan Ramirez, will follow Knull as he breaks free from his captors and begins a new, destructive path to amass power. His goal? To get his throne back from a surprising new usurper.

Writers Al Ewing and Tom Waltz, along with artist Juanan Ramirez, are ready to take fans on a wild ride. Waltz shared his excitement about working with Ewing and playing with a character that still has “untapped potential.” He promises “delicious havoc and mayhem” and plenty of surprises. Ramirez added that readers should prepare for a truly “wild” experience, as he’s having a blast bringing Knull’s dark and epic story to life on the page.

You can find out what Knull is up to in Venom #250 before diving into his solo series, which is set to launch on January 14th. This new chapter is also being hailed as a key lead-up to a major symbiote event coming in 2026.
