San Diego Comic-Con has just delivered a bombshell for comic fans! During a thrilling Retailer Panel, Marvel Comics pulled back the curtain on incredible new variant covers for the highly anticipated DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1, featuring the distinct styles of Russell Dauterman, Daniel Warren Johnson, and industry titan Frank Miller.

This landmark Marvel/DC crossover one-shot is set to hit shelves on September 17, with DC’s BATMAN/DEADPOOL #1 following in November. Both issues promise not only an epic showdown between the Merc with a Mouth and the Caped Crusader but also a host of exciting backup stories delving into other unexpected Marvel/DC team-ups and confrontations.

Russell Dauterman’s newly revealed variant cover pays homage to George Pérez’s iconic INFINITY GAUNTLET (1999) #1, teasing several of the issue’s additional tales. Among them is a newly announced backup featuring the unlikely duo of Rocket Raccoon and Green Lantern, penned by cosmic storyteller Al Ewing and illustrated by the acclaimed Dike Ruan. Ewing shared his excitement for the seemingly random pairing, emphasizing how it allows for a “kaleidoscope of connections between one universe and the other.”

Adding to the excitement, Daniel Warren Johnson’s variant cover showcases a powerhouse clash between two legendary Jack Kirby creations: the Thing and Big Barda. And perhaps most anticipated of all, Frank Miller not only provides a stunning variant cover but will also write and draw a backup story. This highly anticipated tale will pit the dystopian Old Man Logan against the future version of Batman from Miller’s own comic book masterpiece, The Dark Knight Returns.

With a main story by Zeb Wells and Greg Capullo, and additional backup stories from talents like Kevin Smith, Kelly Thompson, Chip Zdarsky, Al Ewing, Adam Kubert, Gurihiru, and Terry Dodson, MARVEL/DC: DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 is shaping up to be a must-have for comic collectors and fans of both universes. Don’t miss out on these epic crossovers and stunning art – check out all three new covers and preorder your copy of DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 at your local comic shop today!
