Big news coming out of Hell’s Kitchen! Marvel has announced that the Man Without Fear is getting a fresh start next year. Following in the footsteps of the legendary creators who have defined Matt Murdock’s history, the new creative team of writer Stephanie Phillips (Planet She-Hulk) and artist Lee Garbett (Death of Doctor Strange) will take over the title with Daredevil #1, launching in March 2026.

Phillips and Garbett are looking to redefine the character for a new age, making this a perfect jumping-on point for both long-time readers and newcomers. The story sees Matt Murdock facing challenges that blur the line between his civilian life and his vigilante activities.

In a major shift in the status quo, Matt is heading back to the classroom. He will be taking on a new role as a law professor, attempting to settle into a life we haven’t really seen him in before. However, things won’t stay quiet for long. A new super villain known as Omen has emerged from the shadows. This mysterious figure holds a vendetta against Daredevil and knows that while you can bury bodies in Hell’s Kitchen, you can never bury the ghosts.

The Creative Vision

The team is clearly aiming to capture the gritty heart of the character. Regarding the book’s direction, Stephanie Phillips expressed her excitement about the collaboration.

“I’m taking on one of my favorite characters with one of my favorite artists, and together we’re exploring Daredevil’s noir sensibilities,” Phillips explained. “Lee Garbett brings so much style and emotion to every page, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner to bring this version of Daredevil to life.”

The enthusiasm is mutual. Lee Garbett highlighted their shared vision for the project.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Stephanie Phillips on DAREDEVIL (2026),” Garbett added. “We came into the project together, with a genuine love of the character and a clear vision for the book. Steph is an incredible writer and has absolutely nailed the tone and heart of Daredevil’s world. Every beat feels authentic and DD at its purest, but we’ve got fresh ideas and some big surprises in store!”

The “True Believers” Blind Bag Launch

Marvel is adding an extra layer of mystery to this release. Daredevil #1 will be the second title featured in Marvel’s True Believers Blind Bag program (following Ultimate Endgame #1 in December).

This means fans will purchase the issue in a sealed bag, unaware of which specific cover is inside. You might pull the standard cover, a foil variant, or even an ultra-rare, hand-drawn sketch cover.

Here is the lineup of potential covers you might find in the Blind Bags:

  • Standard Cover: Lee Garbett
  • Foil Variant: Ryan Stegman
  • Variants: Rose Besch, Gabriele Dell’otto, Alex Maleev, Dan Panosian, Joe Quesada, Pablo Villalobos, Daniel Warren Johnson.
  • Virgin Variants: Rose Besch, Dan Panosian (Blind Bag Exclusive), Daniel Warren Johnson (Blind Bag Exclusive).
  • Specialty Variants: 250th Homage by Greg Land, Bicentennial Calendar Hidden Gem by Sal Buscema, Marvel Television Variant, and a Marvel Rivals Variant by Netease Games.

Daredevil #1 hits local comic shops on March 18, 2026.
