The Marvel Universe is reeling from the fall of Emperor Doom, and one massive question hangs in the air: Victor Von Doom has gone missing!
The chaos following the “explosive finale” of ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM sets the stage for the upcoming one-shot, THE WILL OF DOOM #1, written by Chip Zdarsky with art by CAFU. While the dust settles from Doom’s global reign, one thing is certain: “Doom always has a plan.” The special issue, releasing on December 24, will explore the sinister contingencies the former Sorcerer Supreme left behind.
The Aftermath and a Desperate Alliance
The preview teases a world in turmoil. Outside the Baxter Building, protesters demand answers about Doom’s disappearance, while inside, Sue and Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four are left to sort through his affairs.
The situation escalates dramatically when a mysterious masked figure broadcasts a declaration and launches an attack on Earth’s heroes, forcing the Avengers and X-Men to assemble. To get to the root of the problem, Johnny, Sue, and Valeria travel to Latveria to investigate the cause.
In a desperate, high-stakes move, Reed and Ben (The Thing) choose to unleash the Red Hulk, freeing Thunderbolt Ross from his power-dampening restraints. The big question is: will they live to regret this dangerous decision?
Zdarsky Teases Latveria’s Deadliest Secrets
Writer Chip Zdarsky reveals the gravity of the situation, especially concerning Doom’s home country:
“A Latveria with Doom in charge is incredibly dangerous. A Latveria without Doom in charge is even worse,” Zdarsky explained. “Thunderbolt Ross and Latveria’s new leader have their eyes on Latveria’s deadliest secrets, and whoever gets their hands on them will be a threat that will undo the world.”
Zdarsky went on to tease the new direction for the Marvel Universe, emphasizing the core theme: “We’re charting a new course for the Marvel Universe with one simple statement: Doom always has a plan.
“THE WILL OF DOOM #1 by Chip Zdarsky and CAFU (with a main cover by Jonas Scharf) is on sale December 24. Make sure to grab it at your local comic shop.
