Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have officially given the go-ahead for an adult animated series based on the highly acclaimed comic book series, Mister Miracle. This adaptation is inspired by Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ Eisner Award-winning 12-issue run, promising a deep and compelling story.

The new Mister Miracle series is already in production, with Tom King himself serving as executive producer and showrunner. While the network it will air on is still to be determined, the excitement is building!

This marks the second adult animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, following the success of Creature Commandos. If you’re a fan of that show, you’ll be happy to know that Creature Commandos season two is currently in production for HBO Max. Other recent animated series greenlights from DC include Starfire!, My Adventures with Green Lantern and DC Super Powers.

For those new to the character, Mister Miracle is Scott Free, a world-renowned escape artist. He’s known for his incredible ability to break free from any prison or trap. But this series will explore his greatest challenge yet: escaping death itself.

The story dives into a world where Scott and his warrior wife, Big Barda, find their seemingly perfect life on Earth shattered. A brutal war rages between their home worlds, Apocalypse and New Genesis. To make matters worse, Scott’s cruel adoptive father, Darkseid, appears to have finally seized the Anti-Life Equation, a devastating weapon that would give him ultimate control over the universe.

As the conflict escalates and casualties mount, Mister Miracle is the only one who can stop the bloodshed and restore peace. However, the ominous power of the Anti-Life Equation might already be affecting Scott’s own mind, distorting his reality, unearthing old wounds, and threatening the fragile happiness he’s built with Barda.

The series is described as a “harrowing, hilarious, heart-wrenching journey” as Scott Free, the “son of God raised by the devil,” navigates the ordinary and extraordinary to save his family, his world, and perhaps, himself.
