DC Pride 2025 is shaping up to be a true celebration of community, both on the page and behind the scenes! As the anthology heads to print, DC revealed not only a stunning variant cover by Sozomaika but also the addition of a new personal story, “Master Planner,” by comics veteran Jenny Blake, artist Sara Soler, and letterer Jodie Troutman.
Blake, a trailblazer in the industry for over 50 years, shares a poignant piece about her own identity, calling the opportunity “unexpected and so affirming” after the supportive response she received from the comics community upon coming out as transgender.
Her story joins a larger tapestry woven by numerous talented creators, many of whom shared why DC Pride is so vital.
- Jude Ellison S. Doyle: Called superhero comics “a really perfect medium for telling a story about community,” describing the collaborative process as “healing and right.”
- Maya Houston: Spoke about the excitement of seeing “the heroes I grew up loving resemble the lives of my loved ones and myself.”
- Josh Trujillo: Reflected on the lack of queer heroes when he came out, stating, “I can’t overstate what being a part of DC Pride means to me.”
- Tim Sheridan: Emphasized that “Every reader deserves to see themselves in comics!” and teased that this year’s unified story tackles real anxieties alongside resilience and joy.
Adding to the community feel, the issue will include a letters column featuring fan submissions shared via the DC Discord.
