Green Lantern #24 continues Jeremy Adams and Xermanico’s impressive run, delivering another strong issue that mixes touching character moments with thrilling cosmic action. It’s a great read for fans who enjoy both the down-to-earth stories and the grand space adventures of the Green Lantern Corps.
Adams’ writing truly shines in this issue. He has a fantastic grasp on Hal Jordan, showing him as both a daring hero and a bit of a wild card who’s deeply committed to his role. The dialogue is sharp, often funny, and keeps the story moving without feeling forced. Adams expertly manages two different storylines, making sure each character’s journey feels important. The pacing is just right, letting emotional moments resonate while pushing the plot forward.
The comic opens with a delightful bit of banter between Hal and Carol, which is very sweet and a refreshing look at their healthy superhero relationship. From there, we jump to Kyle, Connor, and the Silver Scarab, Dan Garrett, discussing Kyle’s ongoing struggle to control his White Lantern powers. Later, Hal and Carol are seen dropping off some villains at Sunnyside Prison Camp. Here, they encounter a warden who seems a little too nice, making Carol suspicious, much to Hal’s playful annoyance as he’s eager for their date in Shanghai!

Adams has introduced a truly fascinating twist to the emotional spectrum. People are suddenly gaining powers from emotional energy, and it’s happening without rings, which makes it a really interesting departure from what we’re used to. This issue also introduces Happy, an axolotl who, after a strange incident, now radiates emotional energy, making the entire prison population unbelievably cheerful and well-behaved! It’s a clever and quirky twist, especially when we discover Happy can turn this power off, potentially offering a solution to the wider emotional spectrum problem seen in recent issues.
Xermanico’s artwork is arguably the real star of the show. His lines are incredibly clean and detailed, making every panel look crisp and vibrant. His character designs are full of energy, capturing each hero’s essence whether they’re unleashing power or showing quiet emotion. Xermanico’s cosmic scenes are particularly breathtaking; the energy constructs, the characters, and the sheer scale of the space battles are drawn with amazing imagination. The action sequences are smooth and impactful, making it easy to follow the flow of combat and feel every energy blast. The panel layouts are creative, guiding your eye seamlessly through the energetic story. The art in Kyle’s cosmic scenes, in particular, is grand, bold, and truly stunning.

The issue excels in its focus on character interactions. While Hal often takes center stage, the entire supporting cast, including Kyle, Connor, Carol, and their foes, each get their moments to shine, significantly enriching this Green Lantern series. The story builds to an exciting climax with the return of the Manhunters, and fans will be thrilled by the unexpected return of a beloved ally.
If there’s one small point of criticism, it’s that new readers might feel a tiny bit lost initially due to the ongoing nature of the story. While editor’s notes help, a quick look back at previous issues might be helpful for full appreciation. However, this is common for most ongoing comic series and not a flaw of this particular issue.
Green Lantern #24 is a fantastic installment in an already strong series. Jeremy Adams continues to show his skill with the Green Lantern world, crafting a story that’s both massive in scale and deeply personal in its character moments. Combined with Xermanico’s stunning visuals, this issue is a testament to the creative team’s ability to keep the Green Lantern star shining brightly.
