DC Vertigo’s latest thriller, End of Life #1, has officially sold out at the distributor level just days after its debut. Written by Kyle Starks with gritty interior art by Steve Pugh and atmospheric colors by Chris O’Halloran, the issue is being rushed back to press.
It is a massive win for the publisher, proving that the edgy, creator-driven energy that defined the original imprint is alive and well in 2026.
End of Life #1 Second Printing cover by Gerald Parel
Why is End of Life #1 getting a second printing?
The demand stems from a glowing critical reception and a high stakes plot that balances humor with chaos. The story follows Eddie Stallion, a hitman who finds himself hunted by the Menagerie—a deadly assassin cabal—after accidentally robbing a high-ranking boss known as The Raven.
Stallion flees to his hometown of Pluto, only to realize that his past and a slew of professional killers are waiting for him. The first printing flew off shelves, and this new run ensures readers can jump onto the series before End of Life #2 drops on March 18.
End of Life #1 Second Printing cover by Rafa Sandoval
When does the End of Life #1 second printing come out?
Fans can expect the new shipment in comic shops on April 15, 2026. This edition will feature the original Gerald Parel cover art with updated logo colors, alongside a special “inks-only” variant featuring work by Rafa Sandoval. It is a great opportunity for collectors who missed the initial release or those looking to see Sandoval’s raw linework.
What other DC Vertigo books are coming soon?
This success is just the beginning of the imprint’s expansion. The current lineup already includes The Nice House by the Sea and Bleeding Hearts, but DC has a stacked calendar for the rest of the year. Look out for high-profile returns like 100 Bullets: The U.S. of Anger by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, as well as new titles like The Crying Doll and Necretaceous.
