‘Star Wars: Jedi Knights’ #4 Is Pure Galactic Fun

Star Wars: Jedi Knights #4 is a blast! While it might not be about huge, universe-shaking events, it’s a fantastic, fast-paced adventure that is fun from start to finish.

This issue throws Jedi Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Shaak Ti into what seems like a simple bank robbery. But it quickly gets complicated because the stolen money belongs to a Senator, and a big chunk of it is Jabba the Hutt’s! This clever setup lets writer Marc Guggenheim shift the story from typical Jedi heroics to a thrilling chase through the galaxy’s criminal underworld.

The real stars here aren’t just our Jedi, even though Qui-Gon’s sharp detective skills and Shaak Ti’s calm nature are great to see. The spotlight is really on the mysterious thief, Phaedra, and the amazing group of bounty hunters hot on her trail. Jango Fett, Aurra Sing, Zam Wesell, and even the lesser-known Bane Malar all show up in exciting ways. Each has their own goals and cool style. It’s awesome to see these famous characters interact, sometimes reluctantly working together. This creates a dynamic you don’t often see in a Jedi-focused comic.

Madibek Musabekov’s art, with Luis Guerrero’s vibrant colors, is truly incredible. The action scenes are dynamic and clean, and the characters look fantastic, perfectly capturing the feel of each bounty hunter and Jedi. Musabekov’s action scene between Jango Fett and Phaedra, in particular, looks bold and crisp. And Phaedra’s design, with her chalk-white skin, black makeup, and striking red jacket, has such a cool flair! Plus, the detailed look of Nar Shaddaa, the infamous Smuggler’s Moon, is a treat for long-time Star Wars fans, showing off a beloved location that doesn’t always get enough attention. Luis Guerrero’s colors really make the art pop, dialing this comic up to legendary status.

While the main Jedi storyline takes a bit of a backseat to the underworld fun, it’s still fascinating to watch Qui-Gon and Shaak Ti navigate the tricky world of galactic politics and crime. Their subtle dealings with the InterGalactic Banking Clan and the moral questions about recovering Jabba’s ill-gotten gains add a nice layer of depth. Guggenheim’s writing shines in their back-and-forth, making their dialogue feel natural and keeping the tension high. They also look super cool, especially during that grand reveal against the bounty hunters!

This comic has it all: corruption, Jedi on the case, and Jabba the Hutt pulling strings with a galactic senator. It’s a vast improvement from last month’s “filler” issue. The action is clean and polished, and everyone looks great thanks to Musabekov’s art and Guerrero’s colors.

If you’re hoping for a massive Jedi epic, this might not be it. But if you love clever heists, iconic bounty hunters, and a story that’s just fun to read, then Star Wars: Jedi Knights #4 was made for you. It’s a fast-paced, twisty tale that shows the Star Wars universe is just as engaging when seen through the eyes of its most cunning scoundrels.
