This September, Marvel and DC are joining forces for a thrilling two-part crossover, kicking off with ‘Deadpool/Batman’ #1. This highly anticipated issue sees the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, venture into Gotham City and cross paths with the legendary Dark Knight, Batman.
Penned by acclaimed Spider-Man writer and Deadpool & Wolverine co-writer Zeb Wells, with stunning artwork by industry titan Greg Capullo (known for his iconic runs on both Batman and X-Men), this first installment promises a wild ride. According to Marvel’s announcement in Entertainment Weekly, the story will explore whether Batman will aid or hinder Wade Wilson, who has arrived in Gotham for a mysterious job.
Wells himself expressed his excitement, stating, “After writing AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2022) for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break. Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break.” He further teased the dynamic between the characters, noting, “In Batman we’ve found someone who has even less time for Deadpool’s antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It’s been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens.”
Capullo echoed this enthusiasm, calling the crossover a potential career highlight: “Am I dreaming? This crossover is likely to be the high point of my career…and, I’ve had a great career,” he exclaimed. “Some of my earliest work (many years ago) was on X-FORCE (1991), so Deadpool and I go way back. More recently, I spent 10-plus years drawing Batman at DC. The idea that I get to do a crossover event with Deadpool and Batman…If I am dreaming, please don’t wake me!”
Adding to the excitement, ‘Deadpool/Batman’ #1 will also feature a series of backup stories showcasing other unexpected Marvel and DC character pairings. While details on these remain under wraps, they are sure to delight fans.

Mark your calendars for September, as ‘Deadpool/Batman’ #1 hits comic shops, followed by the DC-produced ‘Batman/Deadpool’ #1 in November. Keep an eye out for more news and cover reveals in the coming weeks!
